The reason for the move? A gift from my mother that said get something you want, Read by something for yourself don't just do something practical. anyway Out for now.

I just bought an iPod touch and amtrying to come up with a trendy web 2.0 esque term for mobile blogging and must say Im rather taken with blogbile. I would also like to mention that the touch is device much more suited to media consumption than production. That being said it's still shiny.

Just a quick update, the wheels are rolling, I am switching provinces yet again, manitoba has little to offer, hospitable but nobody I just click with. So I'ts off to NB I am applying to the university there, and if I get in I'm probably outta here in july. otherwise i dunno, maybe its time for another country. do schools reject straight A students? maybe. anyway off to buy a new backpack, mmmm, adjustable lumbar support....

I had something incredibly profound to write about earlier but figured Id do it later and have since forgotten that particular thought. Lately Ive been assaulted with memories. comming on the way I imagine Laneys nodal mode does (Idoru). Its rather plesant though distracting. It's all been rather vivid, like watching it again in hi def 1080p occasionaly its like being in that moment again reliving it again, nothing sustained just short clips.

Working as a server at Boston Pizza. Its alright, thought itd be great to get out of the kitchen, and it is, but occasionally I find myself wanting to be on the other side of the counter.

Winnipeg is nice, remind me of vic a little bit but with less variance in the overal topology and less water. Got myself mixed up with this girl (people groaning "Again?!") she decided she liked me and tried to hook her claws in and I like her well enough and said why not, now I know why not though my purpose here is to give an update of where Im at not to complain.

Sarah is pregnant, gonna have a little sprat of her own, she seems happy about it though she hasnt called me back like she said she would. I suggested to Phil that if the daddy decides hes gonna be a jerk maybe he deserves a stern finger wagging. Nothing draconian like a shotgun weddin or a forced part in the childs life, but you know if he starts telling sarah she has to give it up or abort(though I think she might already be a bit to late for that) or start in on an ill advised rant about it being his life too etc. Phill nodded, at least thats what the text on the screen said. At anyrate I hope Alisa and Bob spoil the sprat right rotten, give him/her some character;)

I get a call saying a spot has become available in such in such program at such in such school. Im half asleep, I'm asked if I would like the spot, I speak, stutter stop, compose myself. Lets try again, speak/stutter/stop. She says "hello?" inquiring as to whether or not im there. I manage to spit out yes. So come end of august I'm on my way out to winnipeg, no place to stay, no place to work, just some family I don't know. Im going to enable the ad-sense banners to help generate income to pay for school, If you love me click ;)

Well nothing new to report really, taking french at Uleth and am just now considering going to Winnipeg to attend one of the technical colleges, If I did I'd prolly stay with family which makes saving for school easy. Other than that Ive got my bike back so ive been out enjoying the sun, went and saw mad caddies in calgary on the 10th, easily the best show I've been to in a long time and anyone who has the chance should check them out if able.

In other news Skype is offering their skype out service till the end of 2006 for free within Canada and the US, thats alot of free long distance. w00t.

the name is a not so subtle allusion to a girl from work whom Im smitten with but who's moving to leduc. I guess theese things happen. Apartment under B & Sprockets place just opened up so I'm probably moving in there though Im growing to despise moving, it is cheaper and closer to work, Dan says It'll save him money on gas cause then he can walk to work, I told him he could walk to work now and that he's just lazy, he decided not to argue with my point. I do like my apartment but It's kinda small for the price. start school next month, nothing big just a course or two at the U. Anyway that my update.

Okay! I'll post, I'm not gonna blog about my journey across canada in january which by the way is a uniquely canadian experience. Largely because if I kepp thinking of what I want to say I wont say it. In short it was fun/irritating/cold/freezing/snowy/long/something I dont care to repeat. Lennoxville is gorgeous. At present I spend much of my time working and reading. Trying to get some writing done but I'm seriously out of practice. anyway thats it for now.

So in 10 days I leave for quebec, me and gary will head east pick up bob then were in for the long haul. We have not yet found a place to live (if anyone knows where to find a 3bdr apartment in sherbrooke speak up) Me and the girls have done our gift exchange already as Mal had to take off the other noght to see her family. They bought me Will Ferguson's Hitching a Ride With Budah and a sudoku book, I also recieved copious amounts of candy. I bought them a really nice dish set for thee condo theyre moving into. Packing has started right now I have 6 boxes packed. there contents are as follows:
1 CD cases
2 Programming books
3 Linux/Unix Security/administration books
4 Trade paper back sci fi
5 Misc texts & references
6 Traditiional literature and misc

All I own is books, Kyla says this is kind of sad. I beg to differ, what are your thoughts.

As the US Patriot Act Nears the end of its abismal term The Bush administration is trying to have it renewed for another 5 years, The senate has rejeted a number of provisions of the patriot act (Slashdot) due to their infringement on citizens liberty. As I understand it, If a compromise is not reached by 12 31 05 the patriot act will be nothing more than a dark chapter in the history of the US. I appologize for the brief hiatus but I've been attempting to install linux on my ibook which went really well with ubuntu except the pre alpha airport extreme driver only works with the 2.6.15 version of the kernel which is only works with the dapper pre release as it has not been back ported... But I digress. Nothing new happening here, got my registration package for bishops yesterday, what a backward ass system. Anyway Happy Holidays Everyone.

People who know me, know full well that im not a patriot, I don't belive in patriotism as I believe it fosters a 'holier than thou' attitude, which is strongly evidenced on either side of the 49th paralell.

Now don't misunderstand me, I love Canada I think its a great place, canadians by no stretch of the imagination have a hard life. For those of you who dont know (and I ask those where have you been?) we are in the midst of a federal election campaign and this one is shaping up to be nothing more than a contest of who can sling more mud in the others eye.

We have four major parties (snicker)

Liberal (Grits) current ruling party with majority
Conservatives (Tories) official opposition
Bloc Quebecois (Block Heads) they are canada's federal seperatist party
NDP (Democrats?) somewhere left of the middle

Now ignore the last two as the block heads as ive stated are fighting for a soverign Quebec and the NDP dont get much in the way of support(sadly)

So its between the first two and there campaign promises are ridiculous.

Stephen Harper, who from herein shall be reffered to as fisheyes, is the tory leader. Fisheyes wants to cut the gst over the next few years down to 5%, a tax cut for the rich and barely noticeable even to them. He also want to abolish the term marriage with regards to gay couples, instead calling them civil unions. Also he addmitted on radio that he would sell out to privatized health care if it meant less suffering, an understandable position but at least have the apperance of integrity, dont say your fighting for public health care then say its okay for you to support privatised health care cause it'll end your spouses suffering, There are thousands of people waiting waiting for hip replacements, mri's, operating tables for what ever reason.

Paul Martin is a little smarter or at least he appeared to be until recently. He announced a promise for a 1% reduction in income tax for low and middle class incomes, a change for the possitive. The liberals have done reasonably well as the governing party in canada but Paulie pulled a bonehead move aimed at wooing the Toronto and Vancouver electorate. He's going to make ownership of handguns illegal. Of course its not that simple but thats what it boiled down to, and let me ask "anyone remember the billion dollar gun registry?" paulie there both major border cities no one would have blaqmed you if you said you were going to increase the powers of our crippled border gaurds? how bout starting with a seperation from revenue canada, whatever changes you made there we wouldnt be worse of than out neighbors to the south. You may have one a few votes in those riding but was it worth sacrificing the rest of canada to the hellspawn that is fisheyes? Oh and fuck you and your Lawful Access Initiative

Most of this is ancient history to all of you or at least is reasonably familiar but I felt the need to post and to rant, I am saited, for now.

I urge you in the interst of a canada free from direct american influence, Dont vote for fisheyes, he will sell us out alot faster than Paulie will. And if your looking for someone to tell you how to vote, go with NDP, no tax cuts but more for your money, set election dates, abolishion of policy apointments, debt relief for students.

Life is good. Im curious as to whether or not this is an intrinsic value possessed by life.

Anyway I have found and consequently purchased a truck and visa upped my limit which means the previously mentioned probel dealing with fixing and selling current vehicle and finding a new one are next to non existant, more or less all thats left to be done is wait; ohh and packing is good too.

I was recently offered a job as a part time sysadmin for a couple linux boxes, or so this is how it was described to me, in reality I'll be copying a couple websites from one IIS machine to two seperate virtually hosted fedora 1 boxes probaly contained within one machine. In addition I will compile a few programs and run them then write scripts to make sure they stay running and are easily accessable, ie: idiot proof, I could live with this if it was a living but being as that the guy just wants me to set them up and hope they stay in good repair by themselves. Hes kinda like a teenager with his first car (or me with my 5th ;) )
I'tll be more money in my pocket, Oh forgot to mention he wants me to setup various game servers mod his apache setup and setup crontabs without root access, just an afterthought that might amuse those of my readers who are reasonably technically adept, ie geeks/hackers.

41 days or some such number till I am planning on leaving.

Ok so in aproximately 55 days I will, at least in theory, be on my way to Quebec to attend university in Lennoxville.
However; I've come across a few small pieces of information, they are as follows.

Bishops University Requires my tuition (about 2250) before december 15
Bishops is not available on the BCSAP online application for student loans (infact the list is almost exclusive to western schools)
My aunt placed third in a womens body building competition (unrelated but suprising due to the fact that i was almost equal in
mass when I was 12 years of age)
Austin cant come to quebec to to financial reasons (is still however planning towards this end)

I still have to find a truck, fix and sell my car, and hopefully save money to actually move, oh and pay rent there and here for january, looks like If everything in my lif goes south here I may end up back in the bridge to finish my degree, that or defer my enrollment at bishops to september, which i really dont want to do.
